THE EMBODIMENT METHOD®
A somatic-based process supporting trauma integration, self connection, and new relational capacity.
A Pathway from Protection to Presence.
At Soma Ngurrawa, all of our work is anchored in The Embodiment Method™ – a therapeutic framework developed by founder Kelly Mitchell.
This approach integrates somatic movement, psychotherapy, ecotherapy, and nervous system regulation within a culturally informed lens. It weaves Indigenous understandings of connection, story, and Country together with somatic science to support trauma integration and embodied transformation.
What is the embodiment method?
The Embodiment Method™ invites people to move beyond analysis and back into relationship with their body – to listen, feel, and remember.
While traditional therapy often focuses on the mind, this body‑based process works directly with how experiences live in the body – helping to dissolve old imprints of pain, tension, or emotional wounding, and to create new patterns of safety, belonging, and self‑expression.
Through movement, somatic enquiry, and guided psychotherapy, participants learn to access the body’s innate intelligence. Healing becomes less about “fixing” and more about remembering wholeness – reconnecting with self, others, and Country.
WHY EMBODIMENT MATTERS.
The body holds every story we’ve ever lived. It holds the stories of our ancestors, our family systems, communities and the land itself.
When we feel disconnected from our body, we disconnect from our wisdom. The Embodiment Method™ helps release protective patterns such as over‑functioning, people‑pleasing, or emotional shutdown, and rebuilds a grounded sense of safety and vitality. It helps you digest the deeply stored stories of intergenerational trauma, cultural trauma, or disconnection from your own lineage (whatever that is for you).
Transformation happens when understanding becomes embodied – when insight meets sensation, and the nervous system learns a new way of being.
who this foR:
The Embodiment Method™ supports those who have already begun their healing journey yet sense there is a deeper layer waiting to be met.
It is for people who appear capable and composed but carry disconnection within: from their body, vitality, or sense of belonging.
Common experiences include emotional disconnection, anxiety, repeating relationship cycles, or a longing for depth and meaning. This method helps re‑pattern the body’s automatic responses, so healing can move from thought into lived experience.
pillars of the embodiment method.
Somatic Movement: listening and expressing through the body to unlock emotion and expand capacity.
Somatic Psychotherapy: Integrating awareness, emotion, and meaning to resolve stored patterns.
Self‑Awareness: Cultivating compassionate observation and clarity about one’s internal world.
Ecotherapy & Nature Connection: Engaging with Country as co‑regulator and teacher; remembering that healing happens in relationship with the natural world.
Living from Wholeness: Finding the unwounded Self. Embodying authenticity, confidence, and love in daily life.
in the body, on country, we heal. We remember.
the heart beat of soma ngurrawa
The Embodiment Method™ is the heartbeat of Soma Ngurrawa’s offerings – from private programs and mentoring, to community experiences and organisational education. It embodies our two‑eyed seeing approach, uniting Indigenous knowledge systems and somatic science to guide lasting, embodied change.

Through The Embodiment Method™, we remember that wellbeing is not an individual pursuit, but a collective homecoming – to self, to story, and to the land that holds us
